Business Analyst Job Description

In this role you will be the liaison between the IT team, PMs and the internal customers, ensuring that business needs/goals are thoroughly researched and adequately represented prior to and during project implementation:

Responsibilities

  • Interact with business unit leaders and technical leads to define, develop, and translate business needs into functional application and operational requirements.

  • Elicit detailed requirements using interviews, document analysis, surveys, client visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, and task and workflow analysis.

  • Provide the appropriate analysis and reporting to assist in ensuring that a high quality and cost-effective solution is delivered within the timeframe required to realize the benefits to the business.

  • Deliver informative, well-organized presentations.

  • Work with project management to establish deadlines for completion of project deliverables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in CS or IT is preferred, but will consider experience in lieu of degree

  • 3+ years related experience in a BA role in a technical environment

  • Excellent written/verbal communication and customer relationship skills

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Ability to challenge assumptions and understand how business areas will successfully execute plans

  • Experience and proven analytical skills in querying databases

  • General understanding of systems development and SDLC

  • Background with SharePoint, Visio, MS Project or other project planning tools is a plus
